Anyone can use Nuwber to find a lot of personal, and even sensitive, data about you. All criminals, stalkers, and scammers need is your name, city, and state, and they can easily find out what your email address and phone number are, where you live, what your relationship status is, and what your social media profiles are. They could then use this information to harass you, steal your identity, or target you with scams and phishing attacks.

Luckily, it’s possible to opt out of Nuwber and ask it to remove all of your data from its site. We’ll show you how to quickly do it in this guide—the whole process shouldn’t take you more than 15 minutes.

What Is Nuwber?

Nuwber is a people-search site, which is also called a data broker service. Nuwber collects and aggregates publicly-available information from the web, and stores it all into a database. Anyone can then use Nuwber as a search engine to find information on certain people.

Nuwber has some legitimate use cases, like looking up old friends or former classmates to reconnect with them. But it’s also a privacy concern since anyone (including cybercriminals and advertisers) can look up your personal information, including your full name, date of birth, age, home address, phone number, and email address. Plus, Nuwber also has paid subscriptions that provide access to even more intimate information, like business records, debt records, and mortgage information.

How to Manually Opt Out of Nuwber

Getting your data off of Nuwber isn’t very difficult, but the removal process could still take about 10–15 minutes (depending on how easy it is to find your Nuwber profile). We’ll provide step-by-step instructions with screenshots below.

1. Find Your Profile on Nuwber

Use your personal information to look up your profile on Nuwber.
Use your personal information to look up your profile on Nuwber.

Access Nuwber’s website, and use the search field to find your Nuwber profile (the site also refers to it as a “listing”). We recommend trying the “Person” tab first—type in your full name and your city and state, and click “Search.” If you don’t find anything, we also recommend trying the other lookup options via your phone number, address, or email.

For this guide, we used the name and location of one of our US-based team members.

2. Locate Your Nuwber Profile

Find your Nuwber profile and select it.

Scroll through the results until you locate the Nuwber profile that matches your personal information. Once you find it, click “VIEW DETAILS,” and you’ll be taken to the full profile page.

FYI: Nuwber might sometimes take you straight to the full profile page when you look it up, so you won’t need to scroll through listings to find it. This is likely to happen if you have an uncommon name.

3. Copy the Full Profile Link

Copy the URL link for your Nuwber profile.
Copy the URL link for your Nuwber profile.

Now, just copy the Nuwber profile link—it’s the link in the address bar at the top. We recommend pasting the link into a text editor (we used Notepad on our Windows device) since you’ll next need to access the Nuwber opt-out page. If you don’t want to use a text editor, leave your Nuwber profile page open, and use a new tab to access the opt-out page.

4. Head to the Nuwber Opt-Out Page

Scroll to the bottom to find the opt-out page link.

Nuwber doesn’t make it very difficult to find its opt-out page. Just scroll to the bottom of the Nuwber page you’re on, and click “Remove My Info.” It’s located under the “HELP” tab.

5. Copy-Paste Your Profile Link in the Opt-Out Form

Copy-paste the Nuwber profile link in the link field, and click the red opt-out button.

On Nuwber’s opt-out form, just copy-paste your profile link in the provided field. After that, click the red “OPT OUT” button.

6. Add Your Email to Confirm the Request

Type in your email and confirm the data removal request.

Double-check the information to make sure it’s right, and then type in your email. Nuwber will use it to send you an opt-out link. After that, just click “REMOVE.”

Pro Tip: You might not want to give out your personal email to a data broker site like Nuwber, which is perfectly understandable. We recommend using a privacy-focused email like ProtonMail instead. Another option is to use email masking that hides your real email address behind an email address generated by a service. We tested such a feature when we reviewed NordPass, and also when we tested Surfshark’s antivirus software.

7. Confirm the Data Removal Request

Nuwber will send you an email almost immediately after you send the data removal request (we got the email in under one minute). If you don’t see the email, check your spam folder.

Once you get the email, open it, and click the “CONFIRM REQUEST” button to finalize the data removal. This will open up a new Nuwber page, which will let you know that Nuwber will start removing your records. You’ll receive an email when Nuwber finishes the process.

FYI: The data removal process can take up to 24 or 48 hours. In our case, we received the data removal confirmation email in less than 24 hours.

8. Check That Your Data Was Removed From Nuwber

Confirm that Nuwber has removed your data.

To finish up, go back to Nuwber’s home page and use its search field to look up your Nuwber profile again. If the data broker removed your information, you shouldn’t get any results. Alternatively, you shouldn’t find your personal information on the list of Nuwber profiles displayed in the results.

Note that this might take some time. Legally, data brokers have up to 45 days to comply with opt-out requests. We’d say give it a few days, and if your profile is still up, contact Nuwber’s customer support.

How to Opt Out of Nuwber Using Data Removal Services

If you don’t want to manually opt out of Nuwber—or if you found your records in more than one people search site—we also recommend using a data removal service instead. This is an online service that sends opt-out requests to numerous data brokers such as Nuwber on your behalf. You just need to provide the service with some personal information to search. After that, you just grant it the right to act on your behalf, and it will automate data removal requests to dozens of data brokers.

If you’re interested, we recommend checking out our in-depth guide to the best data removal services in 2025. All the services in our guide are able to automate data removal requests to Nuwber. Incogni is our top pick, but DeleteMe and Optery also provide great value—check out our DeleteMe review and Optery review to learn more about them.

What Personal Data Does Nuwber Collect?

Nuwber aggregates a lot of personally identifiable information (PII) about people. By default, anyone can use Nuwber for free. The free version limits some of the data that’s displayed, and it only allows users to view five Nuwber profiles. Even so, the free version displays a ton of data that could compromise your privacy, such as:

Nuwber collects even more personal data than what we listed above, and it provides access to it via its paid subscriptions. That data can include marriage records, debt records, bankruptcy records, property records, information on education and jobs, and criminal records.

How Does Nuwber Get My Personal Information?

Nuwber aggregates your data from two main sources:

  • Publicly-available information sources. This usually includes any source available to the public, like phone directories, social media platforms, and other websites. Examples of collected information from these sources include ZIP codes, states, cities, and home addresses.
  • Third-party data suppliers. Nuwber works with third parties that might collect publicly-available information on you from government public records and businesses you interacted with (like real estate agencies, for example).

Why Should You Opt Out of Nuwber?

Besides just protecting your privacy, there are plenty of other good reasons to request the removal of your data from Nuwber:

  • Protect yourself against identity theft. Identity theft is when someone uses your personal information without your permission, usually for illegal purposes (like committing fraud). Criminals can easily abuse sites like Nuwber to gather your personal information, which they could then use to take out a loan in your name, for example.

Pro Tip: The best way to protect yourself against identity theft is to learn about it. We recommend reading our comprehensive identity theft protection guide to learn how identity theft happens, how you can prevent it, and what services you can use to limit your exposure to it.

  • Prevent anyone from stalking you. Stalkers could use the information they find on Nuwber to cyberstalk you (like constantly sending you threatening messages through social media). Things can even escalate to stalkers harassing you in real life, as they can easily access information about your home address, property type, and relationship status on Nuwber.
  • Limit your exposure to scam calls. Scam call centers usually use sites like Nuwber to put together their call lists. They might already have some information on you, like your full name or phone number. They could then use that data on Nuwber to learn more about you. In turn, that makes it easier for them to earn your trust and ultimately scam you out of money when they call you.
  • Limit the risk of phishing attacks. Cybercriminals can use Nuwber to gather information on you, and then target you with phishing messages through email or social media. For instance, malicious actors could try to impersonate your relatives (they can find out who they are on Nuwber) to trick you into interacting with a malware-infected link or file that compromises your device.

Will Nuwber Republish My Data in the Future?

Nuwber claims this shouldn’t happen, as it takes the necessary precautions to block your information from being republished on its site. Even so, there’s no guarantee that your personal information won’t end up on Nuwber again.

So, you would need to regularly check Nuwber to see if your data is republished on it. If you see it again, you’ll need to follow all of the steps we listed above again.

Alternatively, you could use a data removal service. This automates data removal requests to Nuwber, so it saves you time. Plus, it’s much more convenient than manually opting out of sites like Nuwber every week or month.

Nuwber Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is it legal for Nuwber to publish my data?

Yes, as Nuwber only collects and shares data that’s publicly available. It also follows US rules and regulations regarding the protection of personal data.

  • Why is my Number profile information incorrect?

Nuwber can’t guarantee that the data it aggregates is 100% accurate. The site might sometimes pull incorrect information from public sources. It can also experience errors, creating multiple profiles for the same person.

  • Does Nuwber cost money?

Nuwber has a free and a paid version. The free version limits users to five Nuwber profiles, but still provides access to tons of personal information. The paid version lifts the limit, and allows users to access even more sensitive data, like debt and criminal records.

  • How does Nuwber get information?

Nuwber claims it collects most of its data from publicly-available sources, like phone records and social media platforms. It also works with third-party data suppliers, which collect data from businesses that do business with consumers (like real estate agencies and car dealerships).
