At first glance, you might think ClustrMaps is a tool like Google Maps except for clusters of activities or businesses. But, it’s not. It’s a people search site that lets its users look up a name to find an address or look up an address to find a name. Anyone from advertisers to stalkers could use ClustrMaps to find your current address.
Today, we’re going to opt ourselves out of ClustrMaps to get our data off of this location-based people search site. We’ll take screenshots throughout the whole process as well so you can follow along.
While opting out manually is free, we still recommend using one of the best data removal services as they get your data off of hundreds of sites just like ClustrMaps. Out of the dozen services we tested, we liked using Incogni the most since it gave us fast results. But, it’s not the only good data removal service. Any service that gets your information off of data brokers and people search sites like ClustrMaps will improve your online safety.
Pro Tip: We put together a list of five easy opt outs to protect your identity and privacy. After opting out of ClustrMaps, keep the ball rolling by going through that list. To take things a step further, go through our guides on how to opt out of PeopleLooker and how to opt out of TruthFinder to get your information off two of the most popular people search sites as well.
What is ClustrMaps?
ClustrMaps is a people search site focused on connecting personal information to addresses. It lets anyone look up a name to find the person’s address or look up an address to find who lives there. But, it doesn’t stop there. Its search results also include a scary amount of other personal details like the names of family members, information contained in court documents, and any other publicly available information they can get their hands on.
Using ClustrMaps, stalkers can keep up with your current address as you move. That poses a real security risk. Even though we always want people to invest in a top-tier home security system, stalkers knowing your address is still dangerous. On top of this security risk, advertisers use ClustrMaps to inundate you with spam mail. With your name and address, advertising firms can send mail directly to you while making it look like legitimate mail since they know your name and the name of your relatives.
Did You Know: It’s completely legal for ClustrMaps to gather and sell your personal information. That’s because they only collect publicly available data. While we wish sites like ClustrMaps didn’t exist, opting out of them manually and investing in a data removal service can help you fight back.

How to Remove Your Data Manually From ClustrMaps
Before going through the easier options for removing your data from ClustrMaps and hundreds of sites like it, we’re going to show you the manual process we used. The only cost to manually opt out of ClustrMaps is about 15 minutes of your time.
Here’s how we opted out of ClustrMaps:
1. First and foremost, you need to navigate to the opt out page. To do that, head over to ClustrMaps website and scroll all the way down to the bottom of the site. In the footer, you’ll find a link called “Do Not Sell My Personal Information.” Click that link to get to the opt out page. We circled it in red in the screenshot below to make it easier for you to find.
2. On the opt out page, your first step is to submit your email address. We know it seems counterintuitive to give people search sites like ClustrMaps even more of your information, but this is how they locate the data you want removed. Then, fill out the Captcha and hit the “Next Step” button.
3. After submitting your email for the removal request, you need to find your profile. To do that, type in your name as well as the city and state you currently live in. If you can’t find your profile based on your current city and state, try using locations you used to live at as well.
4. Once you find the result that matches your name and a location you lived at, hit the corresponding “Show” button. That displays the full address associated with that profile. Assuming the information matches your details, click the “Proceed to Opt Out” button that the “Show” button turned into.
5. Next, you get to choose which pieces of information you want removed from ClustrMaps. We checked all of the boxes since we wanted all of our information removed and recommend you do the same.
6. When you hit the “Apply” button, you should get to a screen confirming your data will be removed from ClustrMaps. Just to make sure it successfully removed your information, we recommend checking the results after about a week by searching your name. One week gives ClustrMaps enough time to complete the request.
Opting out of ClustrMaps took us about 15 minutes. They made it relatively easy to opt out since they also sell a data removal service. At the end of the opt out screen, they tried to sell us on their tool, but we know from experience it’s far from the best option.

Use Data Removal Sites and Services to Opt Out of ClustrMaps
Sure, opting out of ClustrMaps was a pretty easy process that didn’t take long. So, you’re probably wondering why you’d pay for a data removal service to do it for you. Well, ClustrMaps is just one of hundreds (if not thousands) of people search sites and data brokers actively selling your personal information to the highest bidder. While opting out of ClustrMaps is a good start, to really protect your identity online, you need to opt out of every site like it too.
That’s where data removal sites and services come into play. They go through the process we just went through to opt out of ClustrMaps except on hundreds of sites at once. Since you’d need to manually opt out of all those sites, that adds up to some major time savings.
Even though we preferred Incogni, we also tested Optery and tested Kanary among about a dozen others. Optery offered us a unique option that let us tell them sites we wanted our data removed from. That required a bit more work for us, but it meant more thoroughness. Kanary, on the other hand, maintains the largest database of people search sites and data brokers. But neither beat Incogni’s speed.
FYI: We put Incogni head-to-head against Optery and Kanary as well, so you can better figure out which service is right for you. Just check out our Incogni vs. Optery and Incogni vs. Kanary guides for a complete breakdown. Then, if you can’t decide between Kanary and Optery, read through our Kanary vs. Optery comparison.
Use Incogni to Opt Out of ClustrMaps
We know we already said Incogni is our favorite tool for opting out of sites like ClustrMaps. When we tested it, Incogni requested the removal of our data from over 100 sites in the first week of us using it. The other tools we tested struggled to make one request in the first week. While over time the others caught up and sometimes surpassed Incogni’s results, we started to question our investment after a month of minimal results.

Incogni makes it easy to search for your information and remove it from PeekYou.
Why Should You Opt Out of ClustrMaps?
Using ClustrMaps, anyone can connect your address to your name or the other way around. That means someone looking to send you mail advertising a product only needs your name. Or, they can look up your address to find your name to address the mail to. Either way, having your information on ClustrMaps makes you a bigger target for spam mail.
There’s a safety aspect to opting out of ClustrMaps as well. If you have a stalker or anyone trying to track your movements, your home address is valuable information for them. On top of your address, ClustrMaps also collects any publicly available information found on court documents and other public records, such as your phone number. All of this makes it easier for someone with nefarious intentions to find you and harass you.

Recap: How to Opt Out of ClustrMaps
Opting out of ClustrMaps is more straightforward than nearly any other people search site we’ve opted out of. We didn’t need to locate our profile before opting out like we did when opting out of Spokeo or save a confirmation number like we did when opting out of LexisNexis. With ClustrMaps, all we had to do was find the opt-out page and then complete each step. All in all, it took us less than 15 minutes to complete.
Even with how easy it was to opt out of ClustrMaps, it’s even easier with a data removal service. They handle it all for you so you don’t even need to lift a finger. When we used Incogni, it got our data off 100 sites with another 29 open requests in our first week of using it. There’s no way we could get those results manually unless we opted out of people search sites as our full time job.
