Editor’s Note: In our guide to the Best Affordable Home Security Systems, we recommend brands that run promotions year-round featuring discounted plans up to 87-percent off.
There aren’t a lot of security camera options from Google Nest, but the three cameras that it does offer are some of the smartest in the market. They are capable of telling people apart from animals, vehicles, packages, and other moving objects. And if you grab a Nest Aware subscription, they can also tell apart faces.
One downside though is that Nest Cams tend to be a little more expensive than your typical security cameras, so whenever the opportunity presents itself, we always try to buy Nest Cams at a bargain. And there’s one really good opportunity right now – Amazon’s Prime Day sale running from July 16 to 17. With Prime Day in full swing, let’s take a look at whether Nest Cams are on sale.
Google Nest Cam and Prime Day
Even though Google and Amazon have sort of a rivalry in the smart home space, their products co-exist on Amazon’s e-commerce platform. And that means that when there’s a sale like Prime Day, Google Nest products also enjoy discounts.
The thing about those discounts though is that they’re not Prime-exclusive. So if you’ve looked at Amazon’s Prime Day page and didn’t see Nest Cams on there, don’t despair. They are also on sale right now:
Nest Cam Versions | Discounted Price | Original Price |
---|---|---|
Nest Cam (wired, indoor) | $69.99 | $99.99 |
Nest Cam (indoor/outdoor, battery) | $124.00 | $179.99 |
Nest Cam (indoor/outdoor, battery) pack of 2 | $249.99 | $329.99 |
Nest Cam with floodlight | $199.99 | $279.99 |
Nest Doorbell (battery) | $119.99 | $179.99 |
Nest Cams rarely go on sale, so those discounts up to $80 are much appreciated. That being said, if your heart is not totally set on Google Nest, we recommend checking out deals from its rivals, the Amazon-owned brands Ring and Blink. Check out Ring security camera Prime Day deals and Blink Prime Day 2024 deals. Whatever you order, though, be sure to set them up immediately, as package theft cases rise during and after Prime Day season.
FYI: If you’re not satisfied with the discounts right now, there are other upcoming sales this year that are worth a shot. Bookmark our page on Nest Cam Black Friday discounts and check back as Thanksgiving approaches.
Normal Pricing for Nest Cameras
Just to provide a little context, let’s look at what Nest cameras cost normally. Keep in mind that multi-camera bundles often carry discounts of their own, so buying in bulk saves you money, Prime Day or not.

Are Nest Cameras Still Worth It?
If you compare Nest’s prices to industry standards, it’s still one of the more expensive security camera brands. There are $30 Wyze Cams, for example, and the Ring Indoor Camera we reviewed cost us only $60. We think the latter is a good mid-range camera, which means the indoor camera from Nest falls into the high-end category. That being said, the indoor Nest Cam really is a high-end camera, since it offers person detection and even facial recognition when paired with a Nest Aware subscription. The Ring Indoor Cam offers neither of those.
From the point of view of people who have been testing Nest cameras for years (that’s us!), though, the current Nest cameras are a breath of fresh air in terms of pricing. Did you know that Nest used to offer an outdoor camera — the Nest Cam IQ Outdoor we reviewed — for $400? Even more intriguingly, that outdoor camera shared a lot of similar features with the new $180 Nest Cam Battery. We found that out when we reviewed the Nest Cam Battery recently. Needless to say, Nest has earned a spot on our list of the best affordable cameras you could buy. It’s already one of the best security camera brands, and lowering its prices while keeping all the great features only made Nest better.
The same holds true for the new Nest doorbells, which come in battery-powered and hardwired versions. We tested the Nest doorbells recently, and we can say that not only are they better than the Nest Hello (the now-discontinued Nest doorbell) in terms of features, but also in terms of price. The battery-powered and hardwired Nest video doorbells cost $179.99 each, making Nest an affordable option.
FYI: Nest provides three free hours of cloud storage. If you’re looking to record continuously, though, you’ll want to invest in Nest Aware. Nest Aware provides 30 days of storage for $8 a month or $80 for the year. Continuous recording is available in the Nest Aware Plus subscription for $15 per month or $150 per year.
Recap
Prime Day often presents a great opportunity for buyers to enjoy discounts on security equipment, and these kinds of opportunities don’t come often from a brand like Google Nest. Keep an eye out for more Nest Cam sales as Prime Day 2024 continues, but also keep your options open. So far, we’ve been seeing deals centered on these other top-notch security camera brands: Ring, Blink, and Arlo.
